Succinctly yours: this week's word: honest

Photo provided as prompt

To be honest, I thought we'd never find my dream home but there it was. It even had red chairs on the veranda, just as it had in my dream.

138 characters, including spaces, punctuation, and the word of the week.

Each week, on the blog Grandma's Goulash, we find the Succinctly Yours meme, with a prompt photo to inspire writer-bloggers to write a short story of 140 words or less, or a short-short story of 140 characters or less, including spaces and punctuation. Grandma's daughter, Calico, chooses the word of the week before she sees the photo.

The story seemed quite innocuous until I reached "as it had in my dream." Why do I suspect the deeper story might not be all hearts and flowers? This is a good microfiction and could make a great longer story too.

I'm so glad you made it by. The Linky stays open all week, so it's never too late to participate.

Speaking of red chairs, have you seen the Facebook page for Take a Seat? It's a red chair that really gets around. - Margy

I knew that you were a writer! It's a lovely idea to write a story in only a few lines!
Have a great day, Kay!
Thanks for your comment. Skating is off now as there is no ice and snow at all anymore.

Kay, your words with the picture are perfect because I think many of us would say that IS a dream home. In fact, when I first saw it I thought it was YOUR home because the door has a window in it just like yours. :) I also like "Grandma's Goulash" take on it as it does stir the imagination for a good mystery should all not be as it seems.
