For Real Toads: a poem for Valentine's Day

they are my people
they are the ones
with whom I’ll share
for whom I’ll care
to whom I’ll give
that they may live
happy
joyous
and free
for, once, they were me.

Today, February 14, writer-bloggers submitting poems to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads have been asked to write a poem about love, without using the word "love" in the poem. It's an interesting challenge, Kerry. Thanks! I enjoyed it.

A fitting take to the challenge, pointed and as lovely as the day is long. Great work.
