the chafing dishes gather 'round
the long, long tables in the lounge
awaiting lunch, which will be served
appropriately sauced and herbed
for lined-up people who eat here
to be near the booze and beer
while downstairs in the dining room
a host of others will assume
sincere expressions of delight
secure in knowing they are right
to have the waiters bring their food
so they won't have to be rude
when spilling bowls of chosen soup
on someone else's luncheon group

Cracked me up! My folks did the same thing when on their Alaska cruise. They just didn't want to dress up. From your photo, I gather you had better views. The rhyme is neat and makes this feel almost a limerick.
Looks like a nice setting, Kay. I bet the food was good.
some days silly is best:-)
I hear that cruises are all about food - and very wonderful food. Love your humorous poem.
This was loads of fun! kudos.
I love your sense of humor. Can always count on a bit of entertainment here.
