ABC Wednesday: W is for whales

I couldn't resist. Even though these are not the world's best whale photos, they are photos of whales we actually saw when we visited Alaska in 2007.
What could be more wonderful for the letter W than the magnificent wild Orca, also known as the Killer Whale?

Seeing whales in the wild never fails to amaze! Sadly, in White Rock a whale tangled in fishing nets was discovered at the beach recently and did not survive its ordeal. :(

You're lucky to have these shots! Every time I tried, they went into the water. Isn't Alaska amazing?

The photos capture the moments when scanning the ocean you just sight the fins. Must have been great to be there.

How exciting to have been able to take those photos!
There was a really good program on public TV not that long ago about whales.

I was just thinking the other day about all the whales that used to live in the Strait of Georgia. What started it was telling Mom about Blubber Bay on Texada Island and how it got its name. At least we still have a few orca. - Margy

Isn't it exciting to see real whales, even if they are at a distance?! This is a wonderful experience, Kay! Such a pity that there still a lot of them killed. They are such impressive animals.

I wish you and Dick a very happy weekend!

That must have been truly magnificent to see!

Sigh... We didn't see any whales in Alaska, but we did see them in Maui in March. Yae!
