Kalamalka Lake, left, and Wood Lake, right, are separated by a narrow strip of land, site of the BC community of Oyama, population 1000, named after Japanese Prince Iwao Oyama (1842-1916). Richard Schear photo
Beautiful mixed flower and vegetable garden at Kenola Farm, Winfield, British Columbia. C. Krebs photo Oyama and Winfield, along with Carr's Landing and Okanagan Centre,
make up the area known as Lake Country, in the central Okanagan Valley.
Familiar stamping grounds. I used to ride my bike from Kelowna to Winfield just for fun (and to get out of the city). Lovely shot of Oyama! And I had a spectacular garden when I lived there.
Oyama has a nice ring to it. Interesting that this little haven in BC is named after a Japanese Prince. There must be an interesting story behind that. Also, love the garden … a birdbath adds so much to the scene. :)
OH! The garden --------------------lovely! I MUST get out and look at ours! But I get out there and find it is a nice day and hubby is home.........so we tootle! BUT I know he needs to look at the lawn...it needs a trim!
For heaven's sake... I lived in Kelowna for a year, but can't remember Oyama. And who could forget a gorgeous spot like that? My memory for names is appalling. Lovely photo, Dick!

That is a thin strip of land. Reminds me a bit of Sechelt on the Sunshine Coast. - Margy
Hi Kay! What a beautiful park and garden! Hope you and Dick are okay!
I wish you a happy, sunny week.
Love, Wil.

If I couldn't live near the ocean, this is the kind of heaven I'd choose. Simply gorgeous Kay.
Wonderful choice for O, Kay. I do like that garden, and a beautiful picture of Kalamalka.
Another beautiful looking place.
Both places are two of the most beautiful spots in the Okanagan! I used to drive by Oyama and dream of living there one day. Have a great week, Kay.

Looks like a great spot to visit, live or bird. Only 1000 to share it with too.
The Okanagan is such a gorgeous place! I like it there very much.
Ooh I have been there! the weather was worse than that though :) but it was still very beautiful.
I wonder if the prince Oyama was from Okinawa? Interesting to have a place there with a Japanese name!

Now you're in the part of your country that I'm more familiar with (or at least your photos are). Wonderful color beautiful plants!
I was about to write that Oyama sounds Japanese and of course, it is. :-)
Sure is a pretty area!
