Open Link Monday: together, we

I might be one of the last to respond today to Kerry's deputy, Fireblossom, at the writers' group Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, but there's an old saying about that, if only I can remember what it is.
*
It's Open Link Monday once again, rolling back around in that way Mondays have, when we least expect them.
There have been some wonderful poems posted today, and I've enjoyed them, but I haven't even gleaned the inkling of an idea from any of them—which is good, because there's a word for that, too.
I would, however, like to avail myself of one of the photos Fireblossom posted, and use it to accompany my submission for the day. I know she didn't personally take this photo, because she's much younger than Charlie Chaplin.

fear has come to you
and it is new
to you
but not to me—

let me help
let me care
let me
be there
for you.
if changes come
(and come they may)
we don’t
have to
rue the day.
together, we
can do
what one alone
cannot.

A cool and unexpected interpretation of this photo. Well done, Kay. I love "together we can do what one alone cannot" - like open the door of the cage??

A very nice study on the fear of change. Of course I'm sure Charlie would have liked to change his situation in this photo. Great take on the prompt Kay.

I can never remember those old sayings, either! I used to have a close friend, in younger days, who loved to say "That reminds me of an old saying..." and then he would invent one on the spot, as everyone groaned loudly. It was fun.

And yes, I am ever so slightly younger than Charlie!

Team work will almost always see you through, especially if you are teaming up with a lion...lol. Life is at its best when I got a partner to help reign me in and puch me forward. Great message.

I like the tone of this very much. Soothing, so unlike the photo. ;)

I first read your poem as if it were in the lion's voice. Then I read it as if it were in the man's. Amazing how the thought changes depending on where the perspectiv lies.
