For Real Toads: Laurie's word, perspective

The word Laurie chose as a new challenge for those who want to submit to the writers' group Imaginary Garden with Real Toads is perspective. The sketch above was done by Laurie's husband to help us remember one definition of this week's word.
*

buildings march down the street
without moving.
the white lines do the same,
as do the tracks
but, along them,
moves the train.

*

the baby slept,
clean and dry, not hungry yet.
her sister wept
for what she couldn't accept.
the boy awoke:
life, he thought, was just a joke.
while mother tried
to sleep again, father sighed.
new day dawning,
the cat and dog are yawning.
sun shines on mood
family now thinks of food.

Love how you wrote the perspective of each family member and yet when the sun rises they all have the same one...food.

All under one roof, yet experiencing the night into morning so differently!

I love the sense of movement created by the train in the static scene.

Your second poem introduced many familiar perspectives to be found in a family unit.

I'm so glad you participated in the challenge, Kay... both are great examples of perspective. My boys woke me up bright and early on this first day of spring break. I think we have different perspectives on how to spend it...

I love this. Interest in food is the unifier of family: human, canine, and feline. Sounds right to me...LOL.

Great take on perspective!

Oh, I like your take on perspective. Interesting, idea Kay.

Great poem! I remember those days.

Liked them both,Kay-- the fun take in the second, each one's perspective unique, yet they all come to the same point. The first was my favorite though--a concise and clear word picture.

ummmmm....really layered, I mean, when you take a snapshot of a family and boil it down...its hard to do. But this was spot on and hinted at all the little complexities that are a family. Some parts felt light and funny, but overall it has a totally different effect, at least on me. Sorry, this review makes sense in my head. Great work.
