Today, I tried to take it easy, and did come up with a cinquain.
This is great exercise for my starting-to-be-elderly brain. I don't know if I have thanked the members of the writers' group Imaginary Garden with Real Toads for giving me real impetus on my voyage back to writing chapters for An Unfittie's Guide to Adventurous Travel... if I haven't done so, then I thank you now. It's been a long dry spell, this bout of writer's block, and writing humorous essays is difficult (at the moment impossible) to do on demand, but I do feel it coming.
Meanwhile, posting to photo-memes is great fun, and has served to keep our travels fresh in my mind, while writing-memes like microfiction (Grandma's Goulash: Succinctly Yours) and Magpie Tales have led me to make an effort. Thanks, Grandma. Thanks, Tess.
Today's submission to Real Toads follows. The 2-4-6-8-2 syllable pattern is the cinquain's. The internal rhyme is my own.
children
laughing, walking,
talking, learning, thriving,
striving toward futures unknown.
ungrown.

love your cinquain...children are our hope our joy....a beautiful expression of that
Ungrown, indeed. And that is both their great strength and great weakness, I think.
Lovely. I can never get over how much your dog and mine look identical. When I first started blogging, my writing had really fizzled out, due to lack of motivation/stimulation in this place where I am living. But connecting with online writers greased the wheels till I began writing a lot. I am in a tired spell right now. But I just want to encourage you to keep at it, as the rhythm will pick up and the writing will flow for you once again.
Very clever. I loved the last word...ungrown. Well done!
Lovely. I have a wall of poems, quotes and pictures at work and this is going to be added today xxx
The internal rhyme adds a new dimension to the form. I enjoyed the happy snappy rhythm.
An interesting exercise in the cinquain form.
