Book Blurb Friday: the ruin

Between Phoenix and Sedona, Arizona, there is an ancient native American ruin known as Montezuma’s Castle. Thousands of visitors view it every year, but entrance to the ancient pueblo has been disallowed for many years. The ruin is fragile now, exposed to the elements and to air pollution as it is.
Zealous park rangers guard it and, every now and then, on an unscheduled basis and dressed in special clothing, one guard will tour it in order to remove rotting corpses of dead birds and rodents.
Why, then, had CSI teams from Sedona, Scottsdale and Phoenix been called to the area? Why, especially, had the Phoenix Special Victims Unit been called in?
“Next you know,” said one tourist, “the FBI’s Behavior Analysis Unit will show up.”
“Don’t look now,” said another. “I think they’re already here.”
Find out why when you read Montezuma’s Revenge, Minnie Cooper’s tenth and finest novel.

hosted every week by Lisa Ricard Claro, of Writing in the Buff.
Each week Lisa posts a photo (this one by photographer-writer-blogger Lynn Obermoeller) and asks us to imagine it as a book cover. Then we are to write, in 150 words or less, a back-cover “blurb” to convince book-browsers to become book-buyers.
Thanks, Lisa!

Hooray for Minnie Cooper! This reads like a true story, so it gripped me all the more. Love the title, too. Great job!

A part from your "novel" is it true that you can't go in anymore ? We have been in the Montezuma castle, but a long time ago and it was still open I think it was the first time we had been to the States in 71 !

@ Gattina — oh, it's true, we were there a few years ago, and they're certainly not letting tourists climb around it any more. It just ruins the ruins!

I love ruins of old historic sites. I can imagine what had happened there long ago and use my imagination better than in a restored building that looks brandnew. Have a lovely weekend, Kay!

Go on..Go on .. I need to know more! When I was a child we used play around the stones of Stonehenge, climbing all over them, now you cannot get within 100yards of them xxx

Kay, A lot of questions asked and the designated groups involved. Wonder why? Been closed, so much for would-be tourists to ogle at. For the better, I guess. Thanks for sharing!

Now this sounds like an exciting murder/paranormal mystery. Lots of research required for this one;-)

Hi Kay!
Oh I have been wanting to take Stijn to see these ruins!

When my kids were young I took them to Cortez Colorado to see some of these spectacular Anasi Ruins! I tell everyone to see them if at all possible.

Beautiful picture!

Hope everything is good with you and that you are enjoying your fall!

Hugs,
Debbie

Minnie Cooper sure knows how to write a good hook! I'm a "Criminal Minds" fan, so you had me with the BAU. :)
