we met on a voyage
from the top of the yew
all the way
to a blue door
on the moon.
as the silence
grew murmurous
and leaping
candle flame
pierced the blackness,
I saw you touch
your knuckle
with your tongue,
then leave your garments
by the door.
There have been many things happening lately, some exciting and some heartbreaking. I was unable to respond to prompts in the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads until I considered Brendan’s list of Sylvia Plath’s words alongside Corey’s prompt about meeting people while traveling.
Of course we have met many wonderful people, some we still count as friends and probably always will, but no words could push pain away except writing more lists of things to do.
Suddenly, quite unexpectedly, the above poem came to me. It doesn’t cover any real travels, it doesn’t use my first-year-college Spanish, but it came, as I suppose it was meant to do, almost unbidden.

Right! Just a little bit of reflection as time goes by. Nicely Kay!

I'm sorry to read that you've been having to deal with some rough times. Sometimes even during tough times, the words just come to us. I like the voyage to the "blue door on the moon".
It's nice when poems just simply volunteer like that.
This is such a striking poem, Kay. The metaphoric language is masterful and the experience of the poem is something I'm sure many readers can relate to.
I agree with Kerry.. the wording was masterful...and is something a lot of people can relate to....

All the best and intriguing ones come by themselves...If we are silent, they will murmur!! YAM xx
a smile at the twist at the end there, Kay - that is an imaginative pile :) ~
Lovely have a nice sunday.
I'm sorry to read the words "pain" and "heartbreaking." Hope you and your loved ones are okay, or at least on the way to being okay.
Kay, however your words came ... they are lovely and from your heart. Sending love and positive energy your way.

This is beautiful, Kay. I love it when poems just "arrive". Sorry to hear some heartbreak is mixed in to your days.........do take care.
Glorious image of the moon!
God bless you!

Ha! Sounds quite intriguing! You've used that word list to your absolute advantage - works so well ! Hope all is okay. k.
Love it Kay...I am so glad your muse came by to leave it. :)
Well I sure am glad that the two of them tied together so neatly and wondrously. This was really good Kay, romantic and so well put together. Kerry used the word striking and I think that may be the perfect word. Sorry for the delay in reviewing...life has been a bit hectic. Thanks so much for playing again, I love it when you do.
Gorgeous shot of the moon!
These rough times build character.
And heart.
You have both and I love you from afar!
