The song in the video Marian included for us is called Sabu Yerku.

the sound tingles
in the veins
of my arms
and moves
from my shoulders
to my fingertips
and yet,
it is an unfamiliar sound
carrying with it
no memories of mine,
but instead
the wisdom of the ages,
rippling
tingling
cascading
delightfully down

true, right? this music does seem to carry the weight of much. love this, Kay. xo
This gives a very vivid sense of what you are feeling and this connection with something that's human - beyond cultural--lovely, Kay. Thanks. k>
Beautiful offering of a talented duet group. We're deprived of more good music with Ali's demise. Sadly! Wonderful write Kay!

music can touch in many ways... giving something that cannot always be defined...but is felt... I got this sense from your write...
This is EXACTLY what listening to them feels like. Brill, kiddo!
Oh, this is pretty!
That is the beauty of music..you don't have to know it or the words but you can feel and be moved by it.
Yes! This is exactly how I felt when I was listening to their music. Well done!

All traditional musics tell us so much more than their mere sounds. This poem does too. YAM xx
Nice greeting of a distant melody. I guess that's the appeal of what they now call world music.
I love your skies, as well as the music of your poetry.
It's been a tough week with a challenging client.
She has ALS, cannot speak, uses a text-to-speech program.
They are moving to an apt. at the end of the month. I go back for respite this afternoon, Kay. It breaks my heart.
Thanks for listening.
Love,
Jenn
Kay, you captured the essence of their music beautifully! Uniquely theirs, ours as well.
So interesting to read your response to the music - it carries no memories of yours, but it carries so many memories of mine. I like your description of music of the ages - there is something ancient about the duo's sound.
Lovely poem, Kay. My son introduced me to these musicians when he sent Malian music for me to experience. This is when he was in the Peace Corps in Mali.
