For Real Toads: an aubade

Grace's prompt today for the writers' group Imaginary Garden with Real Toads is for an aubade, partner to a serenade. It is a morning farewell poem, with no restriction as to rhyme or meter. Merry Christmas, Grace!
*
Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go,
Santa's bag needs filling up,
Hi ho, hi ho.

*

I've got my paint brush and my list
And I'll be back before I'm missed,
Hi ho, hi ho.

*

I'll wrap just one for a surprise
It won't be guessed, just by its size,
Hi ho, hi ho.

*
I think today I'll paint some trains
Because I have trains on my brain,
Hi ho, hi ho.

*
Farewell, now, I'm off to work
At Christmas time we mustn't shirk
Hi ho, hi ho.

*
But just before I go, my dear,
I might have something for you here,
Hi ho, hi ho.

(I found all these hardworking elves at Christmas Graphics Plus, public domain cartoon art for the holiday season. Thank you!)

Hi ho, Hi ho....this was really a fun aubade. The elves really ARE busy at this time of year.

Bravo.

Also thanks for adding a new word to my vocabulary. No, not hardworking but aubade.

Wishing you and your husband and Lindy a very Merry Christmas.

Sorry Kay!

I had to look up the definition of aubade, too... The Blogger dictionary does not know it either, so I don't feel so bad. :-) Hi ho, hi ho! Hope your and Dick's holiday seasonal is full of Joy, Kay! xo
