Shadows-en-Roussillon, south of France

© Photos by Kay Davies, April, 2011
Even as the warm sun of the south of France washed the color from the leaves, it helped them cast shadows on the undergrowth and paths of the condominium complex where we stayed in Canet-en-Roussillon, near Perpignan, during the second part of our spring vacation in Europe. In the two middle photos, a pergola-covered walkway with luxuriant wisteria is draped in dappled shadow, attracting us as well as the community tabby-cat who visited with us every day.

Good shots you have here Kay! They are serene and calm very unlike many places around the world.

Ha Kay, I noticed the cat immediately! We often have resident cats visiting us when we stay over in B&B's on our journeys. I've always photographed them and after seeing a beautiful coffee table book on cats on Mykonos, I'm keeping all my cat photos for a similar publication one day! Thanks for your mail. Since having Wireless installed in the valley my outgoing mails have been hanging in outbox for days! Will reply soonest. Blessings and hugs, Jo

Your photos of southern France look very much like portions of Mexico!

EVERYWHERE SHADOWS

Shadows above and shadows below,
Shadows that blaze and shadows that glow;
Shadows outside and shadows indoors,
Shadows on trees and shadows on floors;
Everywhere shadows calling my name,
Everywhere shadows no one can tame.

That two-trunked tree is covered with ivy - and is stunning! The foliage sits under a warm sun, and the south of France is beautiful!

Apparently the weather is not so nice now there ! they had a lot of rain and storms, rather unusual. Probably I will go there to Claudie in February, she has invited me. They just moved into their new built house.

What gorgeous shots. They remind me of my trip to Giverny. The shadows are lovely and the scenery divine. Thanks for my brief tcp down Memory Lane. I want to go back!!!!! Love the arbor shot and the one of the house. Dreamy. Happy SSS. genie
