For Real Toads: an aubade

Grace's prompt today for the writers' group Imaginary Garden with Real Toads is for an aubade, partner to a serenade. It is a morning farewell poem, with no restriction as to rhyme or meter. Merry Christmas, Grace!
*
Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go,
Santa's bag needs filling up,
Hi ho, hi ho.

*

I've got my paint brush and my list
And I'll be back before I'm missed,
Hi ho, hi ho.

*

I'll wrap just one for a surprise
It won't be guessed, just by its size,
Hi ho, hi ho.

*
I think today I'll paint some trains
Because I have trains on my brain,
Hi ho, hi ho.

*
Farewell, now, I'm off to work
At Christmas time we mustn't shirk
Hi ho, hi ho.

*
But just before I go, my dear,
I might have something for you here,
Hi ho, hi ho.
