Y is for You because without You, I have no reason to post my photos to a meme.

Sampans on the Yangtze still have many uses. I don't think anyone lives aboard this one, however. |
|
Barges on China's Yangtze River carry everything imaginable. |
|
Our ship passed other cruise ships on the Yangtze. |
|
There is always something to see when cruising in China. This was overlooking the river in July, 2008. |
|
And, at home in Alberta, 2010, this twig in our yard forms the letter Y. |
Posted for the fun photo meme ABC Wednesday.

First: With a bit of lateral thinking one can post almost any photo on ABC :-)
Second An amazing series - I envy you!
Terrific choices for the Y Day, Kay! Love your shots from China! I haven't been there, but have so enjoyed the cruises that I have taken and this does look like a great one. Hope your week is off to good start! Enjoy!

Fascinating photos of an exotic place (well, for me), thanks for sharing :)
Kay, thank you for a wonderful Yangtse River tour. Only you can get me there!
Happy new year of traveling!

Love your photos of a very exotic place and your twiggy Y.
Perfect choices for the letter Y.
lovely reminder of such a famous river.
loved the shots.
well done.
I've often seen the Yangtze, but I've never done the river cruise. And your Y twig is so cute!
Wonderful shots. Looks like an amazing trip to take.
It must have been quite an exciting boat cruise!
God bless you!
Cezar
Glad YOU are here to post these gems!

Lucky YOU to have seen and experienced these sights and can now show them to the stay-behinds.
What an amazing cruise that must have been - your photos are superb and the twig has to be the neatest!
The colour reminds me of our Fraser River - silty brown! What an amazing sight that must have been to see that "sort-of" statue gazing down at you as you cruised by! I'm sure it was a marvelous trip! :D
Oh, that is a very clever choice, and thank You for the marvelous pictures. I am glad you are a traveler and share so nicely.
My daughters in-laws went to China to see the river before it was dammed. The really enjoyed the trip

WoW !!! Kay, the buddha's face on the mountain look amazing !!!!
Absolutely fascinating. I have never been to China. I am glad I could go there tonight through your lens : )
A great post for Yday!
Loved travelling with you on the Yangtze! Loved your Y shaped twig too!
Thanks for sharing, Kay;o)

Have a marvellous Yday****
The Yangtze River always reminds me of the children's book, "The Story of Ping," about a little duckling who lives on a boat on the Yangtze. It was one of my daughter's favorites when she was a child.
The appearance of th buddha was a bit of a surprise - as it no doubt was seeing it for real!
although we're neighbors I have not been there either ... wow, looks like the river is alive with industrialization, but dead by nature.... lol... dropping by Kay..
Wonderful photos! OK... you've convinced us! We will go to China one of these days for sure!
What wonderful photos of the river and of China!
Love your finding a natural Y - the twig is great!
Hope you had a great New Year's!
You sure to get around. With a couple of exceptions our travel has been limited to North America.
Ohh! The Yangtze! I did my senior thesis on the Three Gorges Dam and it's impacts on the environment (sad). Always wanted to go before it was completed..darn!
@ Johnny (note to Leslie) - the brown in the water is dirt, literally - land which has been covered as the river was rising. It was sad to see signs showing how high the water would eventually reach. It is all long done by now.
The dam is immense, and the going through the locks would have been interesting if we hadn't gone through at night. Like the Panama Canal on a grand scale. Very impressive but, as I said, sad.

Lovely photos of the river!
beautiful takes on the theme!
What a great example of art and architecture integrated into the environment!
This place is very beautiful. It must be an enjoyable experience cruising down the Yangtze River.
you make me wish I too had visited China. After all, it is the land of my ancestors.
Amazing pictures ! It must have been a very interesting cruise !
I love the things you see on a river, they are usually so different than what you see from a road. Besides that, it's usually quite a bit quieter!
I know this trip was in 2008, but it also seems like every second person I know went to China last year.
That sculpture rocks! (No pun intended, snort.)
I see I've managed to get your natural eye wandering. Sweet branch.
That's the reason I love "blogworld", I'm always learning good and interesting things with my friends. Thanks so much for sharing!
Wonderful post dear Kay!

Probably your "Y" is the biggest on earth. White sculpture/building in the fourth photo is excellent!
That was so interesting and reminded me of my sailing days...down straits of bosporus. I had clicked similarly the shoreline from the ship. Loved it!!
Wow. What a different world depicted in this series. I like the buddha-like structure.
You certainly get around a bit Kay, if you will excuse the phrase. But I think they do live on that first houseboat and I note they have modern conveniences like life jackets on. I'll sure look in your blog again maybe for shots from Galapagos, a place I would love to visit.
What a wonderful experience and a unique Y. The statue is intriguing looks like it is a viewing place, quite surreal seeing it in isolation.
I love that last photo from China! It brought a big smile to my face. What a cleaver and cute piece of architecture.
This must be a lovely way to see a lot of country.

Fabulous post, Kay :-) You do travel to some fascinating locations.
Looks and sounds like a wonderful trip! Thanks for taking us along with you.
A great idea for 'Y' but the home-body in me gravitates towards the twig!
La statua del Budda è meravigliosa !!!!!
