| I was delighted to swim with dolphins in the Dominican Republic in 2004. We've since found out how many dolphins are killed at places like this (not necessarily this one) if judged unsuitable for training, and we've decided not to participate in dolphin swims except in the open ocean when dolphins are there voluntarily. |

It's very sad to read about the 'unsuitable' dolphins being killed. After all, they don't apply for the position of companion swimmer. Must have been fun, though.

Oh, yes, that's me in the lifejacket that kept riding up above my ears! I also swam out and had two dolphins carry me back to the dock. Somewhat scary, but lots of fun.

Cool photo of you and the dolphin, that must have been fun. I would hope all these animals are well care for and that they do not realize what they are missing from not being out in the wild.
I love dolphins, they have such beautiful faces. When we cross the North Sea we usually get a school of dolphins join us and watching them play in the wake of the yacht is wonderful xxx
Kay - Thanks for your kind words on my blog and I totally love the dolphins. I've enjoyed swimming with sharks, but REALLY want to swim with dolphins. Your post altered me to the previous unknown (to me) risk to the dolphins at places like this...Thnaks for educating me!

My mom think cat have a really good life. And my mom always want to be born as a cat but after she saw you play with dolphins. She start to not sure : )

Your photos are lovely.
That must have quite the experience to swim with the dolphins though. I'll keep your words in mind should I ever come across a place like this and opt out of doing it myself.
