Critter and its shadow on snow

© Photo by Richard Schear, October, 2012
My husband spotted this gorgeous creature while he was walking our dog Lindy recently. It paused on the snow long enough to have its picture taken, then flew away, obviously not very worried about the weather!

The temperature was only 4 degrees last night - snow is being mentioned! Kay - what a coincidence that you have a friuend in UK who lives on a long boat! My best friend and her partner have just bought one - it is moored near Oxford. Whereabouts is your friend? We could pass details over??

This is an unusual capture in the snow, Kay. Wonder if the butterfly’s tiny legs were cold. This is why one should never leave the house without a camera. A few days ago I rushed out when the rain stopped for a bit forgetting mine. I missed capturing the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen at Crescent Beach. It was a complete arch over the water making everything glow. It lasted only a couple of minutes. I so regret not having that picture so others can view it and so I can go back to it when memory fades.

First of all, it's hard to believe there is snow already [we're sitting here with high 80 degree temps still] Beautiful capture.

Colorful butterfly on the snow. Hard to believe you have snow. While we have had some cold days (50s and 30s at night) it has been warm here. Today has been in the 70s.

The glistening white of the snow really highlights the stunning colours of this little winged character!

Wow! What a gorgeous butterfly and how wonderful that it stayed still long enough for Dick to take its photo.
