The people of the town were diligent in volunteering to search for the missing boy. Every fifteen minutes, another group would walk across the grass toward the forest, their downcast eyes on the tracks left by his tricycle.

Each week, a new photo is posted at Grandma's Goulash, as a prompt for writer-bloggers to write a story about it in 140 words or less, or 140 characters or less, including spaces and punctuation.
Usually, I'm diligent about using 140 characters or less, but this week, recently back from a trip to visit friends and family on the west coast, I chose to use less than 140 words. I have used 38.
Usually, I'm diligent about submitting my contribution on time, but now I have been unusually diverted by other things, so I'm two days late.

The challenge also includes a word of the week, and this week it is the word diligent. It was chosen by Grandma's daughter Calico before she saw the photo.

Here in New Zealand, here is a fact, 16 year old boy disappeated in August, only yesterday, they found human remains in a cemtary. Yikes for the mum, so near to Christmas.
Diligent indeed! 38 words is just fine - I mean what else could you say in 2 more words but - The End.
Hi Kay ~~ Poor little kid. I hope that his tracks go to the end of his travels. Those followers should walk faster. :)
..
Merry Christmas, Kay. I very likely won't be blogging until after Christmas.
..
So this is another meme? A meme is a wonderful mean to meet people on the net and in reality!
I wish you and your husband a wonderful time in the weeks before Christmas. And a merry Christmas of course.
I, too, enjoy counting words rather than characters for SY sometimes. Yours is a sobering one today, and I say, better late than never! It is such a heartache to hear about a missing child. Grrr...mentally sick people in the world.
the fifth group finally found the boy safe and sound on his tricycle, watching a deer in the forest ...
The End
lol !
Have they looked behind the couch? Oops! Sorry. I woke up a smitch macabre-y, this moring, and haven't had my neccessary cup of coffee yet. I'd best go put the percolator on.
Photo is great and I was touched of the story! Hope the missing child would be found and these people helping to find her are simply angels sent from above..
Sad story packed into a few words today -- I can't even comment using that few characters.
