coming to scare you to death.
I’m warning cause I want to
be sure you’re holding your breath.
*
You’ll wait for me to come there:
never know exactly when.
You’ll fear for me to get there,
knowing it will be your end.
*
And then when I get near
you will be the last to know—
getting there from out here
to deliver you your last blow.

MZ, herself the very soul of brevity and wit
has asked us to write a voodoo poem in 73 words or less.
I have used 73 words.

this is ultra creepy - like the chant from nightmare on Elm Street - 1,2 freddy's coming for you...
Thanks, Sam. I was afraid to see Nightmare on Elm Street, but I'll take "ultra creepy" as a compliment in a voodoo challenge.

My, my creepy image and words. You have this spell thing down..love it!
Bwahaha. I probably could cast a spell, or at least gather the ingredients in a poem, but I fear its power. I'll wait until I can imagine a way ... wait! I've got an idea!
Oy! Great write!
And this can't help but come true. We all will receive a visit some day:). The question is, do we live in dread? Ha. Love this
This is perfect, Kay! To me, rhyme always works well with creepy.
You have the most incredible imagination. This would cause nightmares.
Oooh - eee, Kay! Very creepy. You're so good with words. Ironically I used the word ZEN in my Word Teaser phone game yesterday and it told me it was wrong! Have a great day. (((Hugs))) Jo
Just saw a preview for a movie called "You're Next". Have never watched those movies. Am sure whomever you are going after deserves this. Fear is a spell all its own with great power. Wonderful!

...and you have captured the essence of Voodoo which is merely to instil the very fear of fate into the subject of focus. In OZ the aboriginals have their own version - called "pointing the bone". Marvellous work Kay! YAM xx
I'm ducking and I'm running, Kay! :) Seriously creepy!
An incantation to raise the neck hairs, Kay. Great rhyme and meter.
Ooh, this is a grand and enchanting rhyme, Kay.
This is perfect paired with the image you found, Kay!! Wow...skin-crawling creepy!
Kay,
Very creepy. Probably because it's true!
Kay, this is inspired poetry ... loved it!!
nicely spooky, Kay :)
And then when I get near
you will be the last to know
Sure is scary Kay, but love it! It gives a twist to the element of challenge and anticipation! Nicely!

Oh, Kay, I didn't know you could get this creepy!! Loved seeing this side of you. The fact that you even got it all to rhyme is impressive, espec. considering Mama's word count rules. He's coming to get us all, but why not, you know, slip us a Valium first? (wink) Amy
