...with a dream in my heart...

the eagle landed
to uneven gravity
amid fields of dust,
a boy scout badge
arrived with it,
metabolic rates were high,
a felt tip pen
got the home show on the road—
one small step,
one giant step,
in 1969
Posted for Izy's Out of Standard challenge at the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads. We are asked to write a poem about the moon, without using the words "sky" or "night" or "night sky"...a challenge indeed, Izy.

A splendid and exciting time (and the year my son was born)
Nice one, Kay:-)
I remember the day - I was but a mere child.
How clever of you, Kay, to put us on the moon without so much as naming it.
A Boy Scout badge? I never heard about that. How awesome for that child!
Wow wonderful and unique take!!!
What a fun visit to days and space walks past!
You are incredibly creative!!
Ooo, that is clever. Love the photo of the blue moon.
I really like this, Kay. Awesome take.
Kay, your poem is so wonderful in its simplicity! Beautiful!
Cool :)
Awesome work, Kay...I enjoy the felt tip pen image among the rest well captured!
welldone KAY
Oh I remember that landing--watching it on TV with my uncles and dad and family gathered round. Somehow I thought people would to living up there by now. Thanks for the memory here.
Yes, quite an evocative blast(off) from the past--I remember it well. Enjoyed it, Kay.
Ah! I remember it well! I like how this stands alone as a poem full of suggestion.
clever clever Kay...this one made me nostalgic, and given that I was born in 1980, it speaks to your talents. viva la and thanks for participating in the out of standard!!!
Kay, you nailed the prompt. Do you remember the TV, and how we were all glued to it during the moon landing? This brought back some wonderful memories. A unique take on the prompt, too! Amy
1969 was the year I graduated from high school...I so remember the moon landing
such a beautiful shot of the moon!
nice! i remember, too. though i was just a scrap of a girl :)
Before my time, though I was born too late. Good poetry of it, if one who knows it only from history lessons can say.
How original, up close and personal!
Really creative take on this prompt. Very nice!
