Dog days of summer, Margaret's challenge

dog beaches are busy
collector cars are out
flowers festoon
street lamps

limp old ladies
fan melting faces
and secretly
pray for rain

thunder, lightning
bring pelting rain
storm drains
are full for an hour

old ladies smile
until tomorrow
when heat returns
yet again

the cycle continues
lightning and sun
fire and water
the dog days of summer

old dogs rest in the shade

Oh you have captured it - the classic cars are out here, too, and the goldens are finding what shade they can! They come in for the hot afternoons.

This made me smile, Kay. Especially the part about dogs resting in the shade. Mine rest in the house, but oddly enough they still seek out the sunny patches on the carpet.

My you have some great piccies this week Kay! Loved the ones for reflecting and shadows, but that one up top of a wet Lindy is precious.

Without knowing your theme these few lines may be of interest to you! Hugs, YAM xx

What a splendid concluding line for this poem, Kay. I do admire Miss Lindy, but feel for her with that coat in the summer-time.

Seen those cars & motorcycles and blooms on the streets ~ I am thankful for the sun though, as its short & fleeting ~

Smiles from BC ~

I am with the old dogs looking for shade! You have captured my image of a mid-west kind of summer with afternoon rain and heat. Summer rain is rare here especially one that would fill the drains! Right now it would feel very good!

A light summer and refreshing one too.

Neat to have all the activity contrast with who is in the shade and sitting--the old, be they ladies or dogs. But where are the old men?

I love seeing flowers on street lamp posts as it is a sure sign of summer.

This 'old dog' loves to rest in the shade too. Woof, woof.
