Contribution to passion prompt for Toads

I recall when passion ruled
when self-control was self-unschooled,
when fires burned and passion bubbled
with doubtful heed and certain trouble;
we threw ourselves into the fire
emerged unscathed, so turned it higher.
now we smile, remembering
when passion was the only thing.

I haven’t posted anything to Real Toads for a few days, recovering from a visit with husband and dog to the west coast to visit family and friends, then to the BC interior to celebrate my long-ago high school graduation. Now we're home, perhaps to stay a while.

Meanwhile, I have no illustration for the passion poem requested by Fireblossom for the Sunday Mini-Challenge at the  Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, so I’m borrowing the cutest toad photo I’ve come across in a long time. I assume Kerry, our Queen Toad, posted it on the Toads page. It is a European Green Toad, I see by its label, and definitely not a masquerading frog.

I remember those days too, or the memories are slowly returning, but only because I've been sorting boxes.

The days before AIDS, post high school, early 20s. I do remember that freedom. Nice passion to remember :)

I remember and sometimes regret those times...but I think soon I'll just remember and enjoy it! I really enjoy the cadence of this piece, Kay!

Hey Kate you may have driven past me - my 30-year grad from Kamloops Sen Sec was this year (I didn't go)

I truly love this Kay. I'm fond of good rhyme, and this really is, and you've wrapped up youth in a bow and tied it with a slip knot, so we can see what happens when it comes unwrapped. Hope your vacation was tops.

Hard to believe I was ever a newspaper compositor, or an editor of anything, because I just spotted (no pun on the green and white toad intended) an error on here, and nobody told me about it. I've fixed it now, of course.
