A is for "all of us" on ABC Wednesday

My husband and I are always traveling, and I missed a whole round of ABC Wednesday due to travel and illness, but I'm feeling considerably better and we're just back from our latest trip—a drive across Alberta and British Columbia to the west coast and back with our dog, Lindy.

She is an excellent traveling companion, except for a bit of snoring, and a refusal to swim with her daddy. She never makes a fuss in the car, doesn't demand to be fed, and loves to explore the landscape around the rest areas when we stop. She's also a perfect hotel guest. We had a wonderful dog-sitter the one night she didn't go out with us, and she got along with him famously.

So, A is for "All of Us" — Kay, Dick and Lindy, and quite a few other members of my family: brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces, nieces-in-law, grandniece, nephews, nephew-in-law, and grandnephews (including a 9-month-old I hadn't met before—he's SO cute!) and of course Lindy's dog-cousins, too.

"I wonder why that big yellow dog won't play with me."

"Please, Mom, I would love to have some potato chips."

"I'm just resting here, while everyone's out looking for me. Tee hee."

After seeing "the mob" as I fondly call my family, we came home via Kelowna, BC, and my 50-year high school graduation reunion. New grandnephews are fun, but admitting to 50 years post-high-school is a bit like admitting I'm the eldest of my immediate relatives (which I am). However, I was one of the younger members of my small (fewer than 50) graduation class. Funny thing, now almost all of us look the same age! Unfortunately, I think the In Memoriam list of Knox grads has reached 10. Almost all of the remaining grads were at the dinner, and I was very pleased to see everyone.

Thanks, Denise, Roger, and All of you, for this alphabetical meme.

The last reunion I attended was the 30 year one. When I was in high school, I was quiet and shy because my father was so strict and I preferred that no one know what my family was like. Once I was on my own, I blossomed and realized my natural personality. At the reunion, I saw that most had aged and I looked pretty good. Some of the "popular kids" were not doing well in life while the quieter, more average kids were succeeding in careers. I wonder if we'll have a 50 year reunion - I'll let you know if there is one and I go. :D

I'm afraid the number of grads we've lost in our class was much, much higher. I was really surprised and saddened.

That look on Lindy's face. How could you ever deny her anything? Gracious! I'm ready to go out and buy a bag of potato chips and send them to you for her. Just kidding. You need to keep her healthy.

It must have been a great time you had together with the family and also with your schoolmates.
Last Sunday I went to a birthday party of a friend who became eighty. I have known her for 60 years now and met several of her friends and relatives before, so this was also a kind of reunion. It was wonderful weather, sunny and warm and perfect for a barbecue. So I agree with you:reunions are very important.
Great week for you, Dick and Lindy!

I missed that you didn't feel well ! But apparently you had a very nice trip. Lindy is like Charlie he behaves well everywhere. Golden Retrievers are real good dogs !

Nice to see you back Kay, and so glad you are feeling better. Did you go through Keremeos on your way to Kelowna, or maybe you took the Coquihalla. The last reunion of Charles' Penticton High class that we attended was in June of 2012 - their seventieth!!! About ten of the original class there - they have been meeting annually since their fortieth, in 1982 - wonderful companionship and great memories.
