Out of Standard at Real Toads: hula hoop girl

For her Out of Standard Challenge at the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, Izy has offered us 10 lines that never made it into print.
We are to give them life, get them out there to join the party.
Although I have used one of Izy's lines to open my poem, it doesn't necessarily have to be the first line. It just has to be in there, somewhere, meeting the world for the first (or second, if you count Izy's list) time.

Although she wouldn’t admit it,
Jill knew she was slowly turning
into a hula hoop.
It would take one more chocolate cake,
she knew,
or a bag of butterscotch chip cookies,
then she would be as big around
as the toy her mother played with
years ago.

She could use it for a belt
instead of sewing it into
the hem of a dress,
as she had
considered earlier.
She wouldn’t admit it,
not aloud,
but she knew in her heart,
oh yes,
she knew...
Hula Hoops R'nt us
but us R Hula Hoops

Haha . . . I enjoyed this, Kay, especially since I've been counting Weight Watcher points. Hopefully we can stop short of using the hula hoop as a belt. LOL

Kay, this cracked me up! And the sheep is the perfect pic to go with it. You made my morning.

Kay...I love where the prompt took you, belts vs hemming and choco cakes and butterscotch. This was indeed a treat to read. Thank you as always for embracing the out of standard!

Oh Golly! The opening line, then a quick glance at your picture had me laughing. I enjoyed this all the way through to the last clever lines.

Cute
I see several patients each day that could wear a hula hoop as a belt. And they love their food!
And they miss the days when they could wear it is their skirt.

Made me smile -- thanx

I love that you chose this quote! And the poem had me smiling and grimacing--and wonderful photo to go with it.

Yes, "ewe aren't fat ewe are fluffy," Ha!! This was a cross-stitch hanging above the scales in the bathroom of one of the houses I grew up in.

Anyway!! Your poem made me smile and also want something sweet! ;)

that's one gigantic hula-hoopy-shaped sheep, for sure! i read the sentence literally ~ not enough imagination i guess to understand it the way you did.

great take on the prompt!

Ah I know this well as I sometimes fight against the Hula Hoop phenomenon...

Love the sheep too!

This is BRILL! Was going to use that line, but you have more imagination than I. All I could think of was "The Hudsucker Proxy," with Tim Robbins and his picture of a circle, saying, "You know, for kids!"

The addition of the sheep was simply icing on the cake. Don't we all feel like this at some time in our lives? Mirror, thou doth deceive your patroness... Amy

Hilarious! And now I am dumping the hot fudge banana sundae in the garbage. I looked into my future and liked not what I saw.

Kay, I spent November and December preparing food for visitors ... totally lost months for me in terms of food consumption! January wasn't much better, missing all of my out of towners, depressed. Yep, hula hoop would describe me today. Thank goodness it is February 1st and a chance to begin all over again.
