For Real Toads: Open Link Escher

Puddle, by M.C. Escher, from

On the weekend, Kerry had us consider the work of Dutch surrealist M.C. Escher at the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads. She included a few of his paintings, and provided a link to more. I chose one for ekphrasis at the Sunday Mini-Challenge, posted another because it's a picture of a place we'll visit soon, and today I'm posting a third Escher work and the little poem it inspired for Open Link Monday at Real Toads.
And now for something really wonderful: Kerry has invited me to present a challenge or two for the members and contributors to Real Toads. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. Maybe soon, maybe not. There's still that place in the second Escher picture I posted, and we'll be there before we know it.

I'm thrilled to see how Escher has really inspired you, Kay.
I'm looking forward to a challenge from you, but don't feel pressured. There are many Sundays in the year, so you let me know when it will suit.

Is it a picture challenge or a word list challenge ? Like that muddy puddle reflection ~

I like this Kay--those Escher works were very inspiring to me as well. I had trouble choosing only one and so just wrote in general about the world he presented (though I did post a picture with the poem). And i think you visited my blog so thank you! I look forward to your prompt. I am going to try one as well.

Kay, I guess I am confused. Are the lists of words a poem?

I love the photo of the little toad. Or is it a frog? Anyway, I love it!

I attended an Escher exhibit in Ottawa. Can't remember when! I adored it.
You are wonderful doing your poetry. I've been getting lazy. It's a new year, and my cold has almost gone. There we go. Thanks for inspiring, as ever!
Cheers from Cottage Country!
