Pet Pride: dog jail on Pender Island

My brother's family includes Jasper, a mixed breed who is 11 years old.
Here he is, lying in the sun, the day before his arrest.

Jasper Davies, registered offender on Pender Island, in British Columbia's Gulf Islands.
It was 4:30pm, and his dinner-time is 5pm, so Jasper wandered up to the end of the driveway to wait for his people to return. A tourist saw him, and thought he looked lost (although he was just worried about being fed) so the tourist called Animal Control. When we got back (at 5pm) there was a note on the door from the dog catcher. A neighbor had told her which house belonged to Jasper's family, so she left her phone number. We went to pick him up, and found the dog catcher happily brushing his hair. It cost $20 for a half-year Pender Island dog tag, then Jasper was free to go back to the house where his family stays several times a year.

Jasper is so happy to see the red van drive up, he greets the returning people with his tennis ball in his mouth, just in case any of them might want to play "fetch" with him.

Lindy hasn't met Jasper yet, but we're all sure they will get along very well, both being somewhat senior dogs, and both very friendly. Lindy picks up one of her toys to greet returning family members, too.

Posted for Pet Pride
which is hosted by Lindy's friend Bozo and his family in Mumbai, India.
Lindy says, "Hi, Bozo. This is my cousin Jasper. My mom and his dad are sister and brother. I'm hoping we will drive out to the west coast to meet him some day."

Jasper is one very handsome fellow. Sorry to hear he got taken to jail. It doesn't sound like he had a bad time however, a nice brushing is always relaxing.

So does Jas. She was very spazzy as a younger dog, and would lose her mind every time I walked in the door. Finally, she learned to stuff a big stuffed toy in her mouth and FOCUS, in order to calm herself down. Especially when company comes.

What a handsome fellow! Our yellow lab, Chucky, always wants something in his mouth when he is happy or excited. He has several buckets of toys to pick from. Sometimes I feel like I am picking up after a toddler when I collect his toys at the end of the day!

Aww … the adorable Jasper got arrested. So glad he got his half-year license for his future travels to Pender Island. I am sure should Lindy and Jasper ever meet they would have a ball playing together. :)

That is such a sweet detail that he brings his tennis ball when he sees them. I'm glad he got paroled back to his family!

Oh I'm so glad Jasper was found in jail and reunited with his family. How sweet that he greets them with a ball in his mouth. He and Lindy will certainly get on, they seem to have the same lovely personalities! (((hugs))) Jo

Jasper looks like a very nice dog. Glad he didn't have to stay at the jail long and was returned to his family! Whew!

Jasper looks to have the energy levels that I can cope with in a dog.

He looks very nice. It must have been quite weird to suddenly come home to no dog!

Sounds like one of those luxury jails for white-collar criminals!

Poor Jasper, he looks so cute, his look let me melt !
We are back from rainy and cold (15)° Amsterdam, to rainy and cold (14°) Waterloo. I think this year we will have no summer ! The WE was nice I publish a little report tomorrow.
