Our World Tuesday: we missed the deer

We often have deer feeding at our ornamental crabapple tree when there's snow on the ground and the weather is very cold (it's -21C or 5.8 below zero F today) and some deer did visit last night but we missed them.

Looking out the new window in the door by my desk, I could see the footprints in the snow. Too bad we didn't see our visitors.

Above, the wind just about filled in the footprints between the little Alberta Spruce and the wide Spreading Juniper behind it.

Some of these footprints were left by deer, some by Dick and Lindy.

In the back yard, all the footprints belong to Lindy.

Here she is, waiting for someone to answer the door after she scratched at it.

"Mom! Why are you taking pictures when you could be letting me in?"

We have 5 or 6 deer most days. They are precious. Spotted coyote tracks today from last night. Glad the cats were in!

How smart Lindy is, she must be cold!

If ever we have that cold temps, I'd be all bundled up. Some warm coffee and cake would keep me company!

even deer footprints make me smile

Lindy really wants to come in, put down the camera :)

Footprints carved into the snow always tell the story of who’s been visiting your yard. It really does look chilly your way, Kay, so I’m guessing Lindy’s backyard stays are VERY short, indeed!

Kay,
It would be fun to have animals in the wild come visiting as long as nothing untoward happens. Most that I see here are stray cats and dogs.I hope you get to snap them!

Lindy was probably quite interested in those deer tracks. Not much snow on the ground there, I see.

Lindy probably had a great time outside sniffing those footprints.

I bet she was pleased to get back inside.

Looks like they spent some time nibbling on your tree! We have not had the deer or the snow this winter.

Wow ! you have a lot of snow ! We didn't have any snow so far, since yesterday for the first time the temperature dropped below 0°C ! This morning we had frost and Mr. G's white car was double white.

Such a pretty dog!

We just had a dump of snow throughout the province and Prince George was minus 25 or colder yesterday. That is something. I hope it is warmer where you are.

We finally got ours, snow that is. There were two storms while I was at the cabin this week. The first melted before the second, but this one was followed by cold temps so it is sticking on the ground. In fact, my flight back to Bellingham got delayed yesterday. But I got the worker to stay an extra day to make it work. Tomorrow we are supposed to get rain and threats of flooding. - Margy
