My World Tuesday: Carcassonne, France

Looking at the ancient walled city as we walked across the bridge over the River Aude.
Dick went up to explore the Mediaeval town, but I had to stop to rest and didn't reach it.
Dick found some of the doors in the old city were very small (above)
but I found one even smaller (below) and we weren't even in the Mediaeval part of Carcassonne.

Sorry you didn’t get to the medieval town in France, Kay. But I’m glad to hear you will be able to make it to the coast in the near future! The doors are so intriguing … each one different from the other. The tiny one at the bottom has a purpose I was told when I saw something similar in the Coliseum in Rome. What that is escapes me at the moment. :)

I come from Reader Wil’s blog (I am late reading blogs as I have also been traveling.) I enjoyed looking at all your pictures of France. My mother and I rented a flat for a month in St Malo when I was a teenager and I loved the place. I also went to Carcassonne a couple of times but I had a film camera then. I enjoyed your blog.

It looks like an interesting town to visit. Lots of history there! The dog in the first photo reminds me of the dog statues you see on graves.

Fascinating selection of doors, Kay, especially the small one. Thanks for your concern and kind comments re our journey to East Africa. I will post about the adventure soon. Blessings to you and pats to Lindy. Jo

Those doors remind us just how small some of our forebears were and how little living space they had. Beautiful photos, Kay:-)

Too bad you didn't make the old city, but you got some great shots anyway! I was in?) in the first shot. A chicken-breathing dog?????????

Great post!
