The House with the Light — BBF, May 27

Only one light showed in the neighborhood as Donna stumbled out of the winter-cold woods. She had to keep going, had to reach the house. She couldn’t scream, for fear of being heard by the stranger who had followed her down the mountain.

The author takes us from the edge of the woods, past the cars and across the clearing with Donna, inch by painful, struggling inch. The girl’s thoughts become the reader’s thoughts during this long and painful journey, until we find out what awaits her in the house with the light.

Written by author Kit Kittredge and published by A.G. Dahl Books, The House with the Light explores and exposes the psychology and pathology of pain and fear in 150 taut, tense pages. With skill to equal Freud, Jung, and Dr. Spock, Kittredge takes us into the mind of an injured, frightened child, and then...

Yikes, that sounds like scary stuff, but I hope the House with the Light holds something positive for her after her rough journey.

Oooh...this is really good! You pulled me in right from the start, and then hooked me with the psychological aspect. Wow.

Kay! My gosh, this is a perfect book blurb about a fascinating story. Excellent job! And you are right in real life, the mountain is 13 miles east of this neighborhood.

Have a great weekend,

Kathy M.

It looks like were in for a dark story here-what awaits the poor girl? Good one!

This sounds a well-researched and meaty investigation, as well as downright scary - well done

Oh my, that sounds like a very tense situation. I would have to buy this book to find out what happens to this poor child. You are so good at this Kay.

What a perfect blurb, Kay. You make me want to read this scary book. Thanks for your many visits to my posts even while I was in SA and travelling back to Kenya. As you said, it was a relief that Ginger accepted Shadow although he has given him a cuff along the ear for good measure! A big hug to you and pats to Lindy. Blessings, Jo

Whoa....now you have me going with this tho, is it YOUR writing skills or a 'true' book flap from Kit Kittredge? If this is your way of getting us transfixed, it worked!!

Happy Friday!!

This is a superb blurb, Kay and the story would be completely absorbing. Spine-tingling, edge of the chair reading at its best.

"Kit Kittredge," eh? Did you know she was the aspiring writer from one of the American Girl books for young girls? Guess she grew up to be a famous author of suspense!

Love your book blurbs :)

The story sounds like a wonderful thriller ... except ... 150 pages to cross the car park? Yikes - that really does sound scary!

I did want to say thank you for visiting my blog so faithfully, even when I was all but missing in action!

Kay, your book blurbs are so good! Have you ever written a book to go with them?

@ Dimple —
Well, I haven't written a book to go with the blurbs, but I came "this close" to getting a book published in the 80s. So I tried another, and then another, but couldn't finish them.
Turns out my writing style is humorous essay, so my current work-in-progress is "An Unfittie's Guide to Adventurous Travel" and I only got 18 small chapters (humorous essays) written (see first part of my blog) and then I hit writer's block.
I'm hoping the writing memes will help me get past this long, long blockage (if I ever have time, in between posting to photo memes, LOL).
Thanks!

I'm awfully glad there was a picture of a goofy golden retriever on the page to comfort me, because that really is deeply scary stuff! ;)

I hate the feeling of being chased! Now I will have to keep looking over my shoulder to make sure I'm not being followed. :)

I love all the officialness of your blurb (the publisher name, etc). And the abrupt ending is just perfect.

"And then ..."

Don't leave me hanging like that! You'd better hurry and write this one. I love the psychological component and know that it would surely be a page turner.

Oooh...most intriguing, Kay! I like how you keep us longing for more...a very effective blurb that would definitely sell this book. This meme is just perfect for a wordsmith like yourself...:

Sinister stuff! Thank heavens it's almost summer and I don't have to woork about dark car parks.
