Total: 139. This is obviously a fairy tale.

She put a coin into the wishing shoe, which multiplied her $20 goldpiece a millionfold.
The square-fingered glove handed her the new coins.
Microfiction Monday requires us to write about a picture, provided each week by the lovely and talented Susan at Stony River, in 140 characters or less, including spaces and punctuation.

I could never do it if I didn’t have the help of Design 215’s character counter, which can be found below, but today I did it in 139 characters.

Love it, I need to start looking for one of those wishing shoes!!

I was wondering if there was an easy way come up with a count, I couldn't imagine everyone counting each letter and space.

A fairy slot machine that only gives you money. I like this!

I thought at first that you were referring to your IQ in the title, but why it was a fairy tale I didn't understand: I think you are very clever! Turns out you were talking about the amount of characters. Which showed you are very very clever, even with the help of 215-whatever!

Clever! I went for the obvious - stinky shoes. Yours took a lot more imagination. Nice.
