Alberta skies come in different colors...white, black, pink, red, blue, purple, yellow, orange, sometimes even a hint of green, but only one size...large! Skies out here on the prairie are huge, with sunrises and sunsets that can usually be seen from any direction, all around the horizon.
Posted for Skywatch Friday, hosted every week by

Breathtaking captures, Kay! I love your huge skies and such wonderful colors! I really love the second one with the bare, black trees silhouetted against the muted sun! I know I say this a lot about bare trees in the winter, but they are always so beautiful and always different. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Stay warm!

Hehe! I'm going to say what a lot of people say when they come to my blog: It looks cold. :))
Any painter trying to paint Alberta skies, needs many colours to get that stunning result that we now see in your photos.
That was the word that came to mind, even before I read your caption: those are big skies! You wouldn't feel closed in there. Lovely series :-)
Thanks for your visit and comment on my blog :-)
Oh those look so cold! Reminds me of this past weekend at the CDR. Brrrr. But I so enjoy the wide open spaces of nature!
Kay, You've captured a variety of beautiful colors of the sky, thanks for sharing. Have a lovely day.

A perfect description of big sky country Kay -- with perfect pictures!! That's why you live there snow or no snow isn't it? Just lovely.

I love the variations in the beautiful skies you are showing us.
Beautiful big Alberta skies! Love them all but especially the middle one.

It's all so beautiful, Kay! Lucky you!
Beautiful views of the sky. Lovely color contrasts.
Beautiful! Your land looks different, but your skies look a lot like ours have been this winter.

These are gorgeous skies Kay! It has been a while since I lived in Alberta (Rycroft, Cold lake and Wabamun) - love those wide open skies!
Brrr! after this past week in sub freezing Dallas, I appreciate cold skies when I see them! Thanks for sharing!
Very familiar looking - lovely captures - big indeed!
You do have some huge skies in that part of the country and colourful too!

Did I tell you my parents live in Canada? Elliot Lake Ontario.
;0) Keep warm my friend!
Kay, I love big skies and we have them in Africa (including South Africa) as well. All's well here, yes, we're remote and almost out of touch. Every morning Grant and I wake up and say: Wonder what Shadow is doing? Missing him so much but all for his own good that he is there now. Keep well and enjoy the weekend. (((Hugs))) Jo
At least your skies are colorful and not grey like my skies !
It's time that the sun shows up again ! I don't know anymore how sunshine looks !
nice shots
happy SWF
I think that the sun over the trees is my favourite... but it is hard to choose as they are all amazing!
What marvellous large skies!
Heart-stopping huge skies - wonderful:-)
Such very pretty skies in pastel shades! When I was in Canada some years ago I was totally enchanted with the awesome expanse of sky in Saskatchewan! I felt I was actually in the sky!
Those are some icy skies, Kay!
TO THE SKY
Sky by day or sky by night,
You are always my delight,
For in blaze or subtle hue,
Sky, my heart belongs to you.

Blazing Sky
Those are huge skies for sure, I don't think I've ever actually seen skies that big in person as we have some pretty hilly territory here in Quebec and in Ontario as well! Your skies are a very impressive sight indeed!
The prairie provinces are known for their expansive skies which you have captured so well for SkyWatch Friday! I am loving the second photo! Enjoy your weekend.
Love that second photo. I adore bare branches backlit with light like that.
You and Dick really make a marvelous team... These are super sky captures. Hard to pick a favorite, but maybe I'll go for the third, because I think I posted the cousin of those trees! :-D
Oh silly me... it's the second one with the trees.
Just so pretty Kay and beautifully lit too.
WOW - scenes from my childhood. Marvelous prairie skies Kay, - I love winter on the prairies.
Your skies looks so vast! Like the Big Skies of Texas! Enjoy the cold!
Beautiful shots--lots of wide-open spaces. I'm from Kansas--lots of prairies here too.
