L is for our Lovely Lindy's Birthday

We don't really know when Lindy was born, we don't even know what year she was born, but we adopted her on September 16, 2009, so Sept. 16 is the day we celebrate Lindy's birthday. The veterinarian thought she was about four years old last year, so now we think she is five. Above, a yam cake decorated with red and green peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrot coins, was a huge hit with Lindy. She got to eat a little bit of the yam cake, and also the rest of the vegetables. Since then, we found out she has gained weight in the past 8 months, so we won't be baking any more cakes for her.

On the left, upside down in front of the cabinet, is Lindy's old favorite toy, a squeaky cow. She was always losing it outside, so her daddy got her a squeaky bunny (you can see its four feet sticking out of her mouth). Right now, both toys are missing, so it's time to do a search of the yard.

Lindy's daddy also bought her a Kong toy, the kind we're supposed to fill with treats for her to work at getting out. She tried and she tried, but she couldn't get the pieces of dog biscuit out of the toy, so her daddy felt sorry for her, took a piece out and gave it to her. Now she doesn't want to play with her toy because nobody is helping her get the treats out!

In the top photo, you can just see part of Lindy's step-stool, a gift from her  mom early this year.   Here is a better picture of the stool, which says "Dog" on it, above a picture of a Lindy-colored puppy. She often uses her step-stool when she is getting up onto, or down from, her window seat (on the right).

Lindy's mommy posted these photos because tomorrow is
ABC Wednesday
and this week's letter is L for Lindy.

It looks a superb cake, Kay - I'd have served it in our house to the humans!
I LOVE the dog step stool - how wonderful that is! What a clever girl Lindy is to be able to use it. I'm sure our dogs would just chew it to matchsticks!
The trouble with the Kongs in our house is that the dogs get the treats out far too quickly. Even Winston the cat has no difficulty. I guess Lindy isn't as greedy as our animals. She is such a gorgeous dog - you're blessed to have found each other :-)

Oh, and Happy Birthday, Lindy, albeit a little late :-)

LOL
Lindy is plenty greedy, Janice. She's also lazy, however. The plan was to have the Kong to keep her entertained in the house when we're out, but she won't even look at it, even though it still has biscuits in it.

What a fun post for L Day! And Happy Birthday, Lindy! Adam gave Mojo a Kong toy, but her favorite time to play with it is in the middle of the night! What would we do without our doggies? Hope you all have a great week!

Lindy is lovely. So sorry she gained weight so she won't be getting any more cake, though!

Happy birthday Lindy;) what a beautiful girl you are. And so blessed to land in such a loving household. The Kong toy also missed it's mark in our house. But I love the squeaky cow and rabbit. Toys being lost sounds like our household here in Khartoum where the cat is forever losing Morris the Mouse, or Shaun the Sheep and watches as his humans are grovelling under wardrobes and beds trying to find them! Have a great day - your cake looks delicious! Tail wags and woofs. The Hedges menagerie

Oh, yes, Jo, Lindy thinks it's quite funny when we crawl around on the floor looking under the furniture for her things.

Happy belated birthday Lindy (and of course happy belated animal day, which was yesterday)! We don't like dogs much, but you look nice enough (and far enough), so we don't mind you! We do like your stool though, so now we will look at our mistress and try and get one of those as well.

Lindy, you are just a lovely sweetheart, and you bring back memories of when our dear Caspar was young and frivolous, - begged for biscuits and ran for toys. He is now 16 years old, - very venerable and a great sleeper, but it is nice to remember him in his heyday. Hope you have many more happy birthdays.

Lindy is such a pretty dog, she looks like she likes to play with her toys. About the Kong toy, I use to put peanut butter in our dogs Kong toy, they can lick it out, but it takes them a few minutes to get it all licked out. As someone else said, I gave it to her when we left and she would be busy and not even notice us leaving.

Sounds like Lindy is a very special dog to get her own special Yam Cake. I'll take some!

I used the letter L to share our little Molly for Lap Dog!!!

Lindy is beautiful, and I love her toys and stool.

Paul McCartnety wrote a little ditty called The Lovely Linda for his late wife, and THAT'S what I'm thinking about. And laughing!

@ Chris -- sweet peppers, not hot peppers!! And not too much at a time, although she does love them.

I can't believe she actually uses the stool! What a princess. Have you tried peanut butter in the Kong? I know it sounds gross but it gets 'em working and rewarded.
