Camera Critters & Pet Pride: the deerstalker

Photos by Richard Schear, 2013

Lindy used to spot deer in the distance long before her photographer/daddy saw them. Now she has cataracts on her eyes, and has no peripheral vision or close vision. However, she can still catch movement in the distance, and she is still excited to see deer. When she and her daddy were out at sunset one night this week, she saw them and wanted to run with them.

Bro is John's early warning system. He's pretty old, but his sniffer still tells him when there's bear in the neighbourhood. Boy does he have a bear howl. Stick Tail (our cat) is getting old too. For the first time we came home to the cabin to find mice inside. I thought it would excite Stick, but he seems to not even know they are around. One even ate food out of his dish next to his bed while he was sleeping. We are pretty sure he's deaf, but his eyes and nose should be still in working order. But maybe because he's been an indoor kitty for so long, he's forgotten what a mouse is. - Margy

What lovely light and colour Dick captured in these shots........I especially love the golden grasses. And Lindy, it goes without saying!

They're gorgeous critters. I'm sorry Lindy's vision is getting worse.

Lindy, looks like the deer are watching you too. I would love to go walking in a place like this where I could see deer that close.

I'm sure I can see Lindy straining at the leash there Kay. I'll bet she still has a good sense of smell too and could locate those deer no problem.
