Camera Critters onboard the ship

What Carnival cruise would be complete without camera critters waiting on the beds in the evening? We even thought of buying Carnival's how-to book for towel animals this year, but decided that would take all the fun out of it!

Our World Tuesday: brown pelicans in Baja

My husband loves photographing pelicans. There were plenty of them around when we visited Cabo San Lucas on our Carnival cruise earlier this month.

This first fella wasn't doing much, but he sure looked handsome.

These opportunists hang around when fish are being cleaned near the dock.

Pelicans seem to congregate in groups both large and small.

This one is swallowing something.

And these two had enough of being photographed. One flew away; one swam off.

SkyWatch Friday: Mexican sunrise

We were on our Mexican cruise for several days before my intrepid photographer managed to get these photos of the sunrise.

Our cabin was on the starboard side of the Carnival Spirit, so we were facing the west as we sailed south.

He did try to get up to go to the other side of the ship to catch the sunrise, and I even tried to help by waking him up one morning (the day the clocks went back, so I woke him up an hour early).

Finally, on our return northward, he was up and caught the sun rising through a layer of cloud. At first it looked like a snowcapped mountain on the horizon, then it began to take on fiery color, a true Mexican sunrise!

We're back...again...didja miss us?

Photos to come soon of our latest journey, to San Diego for several days (yes, we went to the zoo) and from San Diego on a cruise to Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas (and San Jose del Cabo) and to Ensenada, which is no longer the sleepy, dusty little town I remember from years gone by.

Here we are on the deck of the Carnival Spirit at Puerto Vallarta. There were many families aboard the ship because so many children had Easter vacations. It was a busy cruise, on a "fun ship"! Dick enjoyed the big waterslide, and I loved the spa.

We got home yesterday, and this afternoon a young grey cat decided it wants to come into our house, despite the fact that it saw the lovely Lindy, our Golden Retriever, through the door. Lindy was wagging her tail and looking like she might enjoy having a cat roommate, but we travel too much to be able to have two pets. We'll have to put up "Found" notices.
