Man with his head bowed low

Image by crilleb50, provided as prompt at The Mag
time passed
as he sat,
with his head
bowed low,
slowly
and painfully
passed.

time waited
as he sat,
in sorrow
bowed low,
painfully
slowly
time passed.

the passage
of time
brought an end
to the pain,
slowly
the pain
decreased,

til he lifted
his head
and looked
at the world,
and found
that the pain
had ceased.

It has sadness in it but it ends on a note of hope and happiness:)

Quite nice to sleep through pain. Neat repetition adds to the myth of the photograph, but then undercuts it with some Kay humor.

This has a real melancholy air to it.

This is a wonderful verbal rendition of the scene Kay! The 'uplift' ending is perfect. YAM xx

I've found this to be true. Healing takes time but it does come finally. This is penned very well.

Good one Kay. My dad used to say, "Time wounds all heels." :o)

That's me sometimes, Kay!!! You told his story with a tone of compassion.

It reminded me of a lady I know staying in church yesterday when the others had gone. She was sitting with her head down. She is one of the 'homeless' who regularly attend. I patted her shoulder and said hello but she didn't acknowlege.

They say time heals all wounds, love the combination of verse with this image.

A great take on the prompt.
Such a heavy sadness in these words.

What a beautiful poem of the journey through pain to its release.

I thought I already left a comment. Anyway, the head down and clocks, more than one, in the background... Time is a healer, comforter when things are taken away, something is left for us behind.

Kay, your poem struck a chord today ... time, everyone needs it for healing.

I find great joy easing my clients into the next life. It will happen to all of us. Yet, I can ease their lives.

Lovely write describing the healing power of time. Just when we think we can't take the pain anymore, it heals leaving us very grateful.

The last stanza... is so fulfilling, so full of freedom and hope - makes the journey have a point...

Really, a stunning and beautiful poem!

Pretty great when that happens. This has a minute by minute trickle to it. Very cool. K. Manicddaily

Kay, I was so sad for this man, and I understand his sadness... also, I noticed the clocks with different times, as though denoting the passing of time as he sat there.

Decreased/deceased is an excellent rhyme as well. Glad this ended happily, even though a jaunty gait will no doubt take some time. Amy

Just wait. Just breathe. This, too...

Lovely poem. Time, the great healer.

Different take, that time stands still while you heal... Very nice!

I like it. Thanks for this post. I liked your twist at the end.

So pain ceases once he looks outside of himself for a focus, perhaps? God advice, that...
