Kerry also provided a video of Levertov reading from some of her work, but the video came through on my computer with no sound.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the poems I read, especially these lines that spoke to my own life experience:
"...mountain,
cut of limestone, echoing
with hidden rivers"
Now, after midnight, as usual, and with the dog snoring behind me, I found one particular poem spoke to me. My favourite lines are:
"a thousand times,
till death finds them,
they may discover it again,
in other lines"
to find
read a poem
you’ll find
it’s all there
between the lines
between the words
hidden in the spaces
between the words
between the lines
it will come to you
as you dream
as you forget
the name of the poem
the name of the poet
as you waken
as you forget
what you have dreamed
you'll find
it all there
in the spaces
in between

Congrats on 1700 - There's something very pleasing about round figures... (take that how you will!)
There is something very pleasing about your poem also - this poet appreciates its between-ness &*>

This say so well what poetry may mean to a reader. The sense that meaning is so personal and universal at the same time. I love her poem inspired by the two girls who found "the secret" in her words.
Congrats on the milestone Kay ~
I love that quote too ~ To discover what you are looking for between the lines, between the words & spaces between ~
Your poem says it all. Happy 1700th blog post, Kay!
Congratulations on making 1700, Kay!!! Isn't it always a surprise to know we've been writing so much?
Cool 1700th, Kay :). It's always between the lines, isn't it? ~ M
Denise Levertov's language is beautiful. I haven't read anything by her, but these few lines are pure - well, poetry.
I love this approach to the prompt, and feel I have exactly that process you describe--these days more and more the forgetting and remembering, each time a falling-in-love again.
