It's a lovely landscape, although if it happened here will be very dangerous during typhoons and rains. Are they the remnants of mining activities or just normal contours?

@ Andrea — the coulees (below the level of the prairie) were carved by long-ago rivers and streams, feeding into a large river nearby.
When there is a lot of rain, flash floods might carve the coulee deeper into the soil below the prairie.

The coulees make the photos so interesting. You caught the shadows that give them texture. Nice!
