Stromboli against the sky

Richard Schear photo, February, 2013

Looking like steam from a kettle, a stream of smoke issues from Stromboli, an active Italian volcano we passed on our way to Venice aboard the Carnival Destiny in February.

Wonderful shot of the mountain with the steam rising.

Cool shades of pale gray-blue and deep gray-blue, Kay, and it's a smoking volcano, too! That sounds like a great cruise.

That is an amazing picture, almost like a painting x

That is a very big volcano. I sometimes also see those clouds like smoke arising from the caldera, but here they are not, just so happened to be in the horizon.

It really is a beautiful photo. I'm glad it didn't erupt though. Then you'd have vog like us too.

It's weird for me to see a mountain top with no snow, lol. Soon I guess the snow will be completely gone from the mountains here too. This doesn't last too long as you know ;-) Have a wonderful weekend. xx
