We've been traveling by train in The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Switzerland, and when we arrived in Metz, a French city not far from the Luxembourg border, we thought it had a rather unusual train station ("gare" in French). A little bit of research (in a book, not on the internet) told us it's because it shows a distinct Germanic influence. Who knew? Learn something new every day, as I always say. This does have a bulky, old world charm to it!
What a magnificent train station in Metz! Marvelous!
It's a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing!
A gorgeous building! Have a wonderful week!
I love the 'gare'. Traveling by train in Germany and France was a wonderful experience - wish we had more of them around here.
What a great way to travel Kay, - hope you are having a wonderful time.
Now I want to know how the building is different from the others you've been seeing. Happy trails to you. :-)
That is really quite an impressive train station. I'm so glad you're having such a great time!
Bonjour chère K
C'est tellement magnifique!

A book? One of those things with leaves and stuff? Wow, how novel!
Since Metz is in the French/German border area it has changed hands several times over the years, so that would be one of the reasons of the 'gare' looking so German.
What a magnificent post
There are some beautiful train stations here in Europe! I love the one in Antwerp....even beautiful on the inside!
Can't wait to see more!
Hugs,
Debbie
