We've been traveling by train in The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Switzerland, and when we arrived in Metz, a French city not far from the Luxembourg border, we thought it had a rather unusual train station ("gare" in French). A little bit of research (in a book, not on the internet) told us it's because it shows a distinct Germanic influence. Who knew? Learn something new every day, as I always say.
