Sun low in the southern sky, shadows shoot across the snow

Icicles hang from the roof of the old shed, casting their own shadows

Lindy wondered what we were doing out in the yard!

Oh my! Since they're taken with the Samsung, I presume they're current? No snow here yet. We've had a few light dustings, however.

Snoooooooooooowwww...

When I see snow it always reminds me of the song in 'White Christmas' where they are hoping for snow in Vermont.

Wonderful bright shadows (if shadows can be bright??) but I don't envy you so much snow so early in the season. You're obviously really enjoying your new camera :-)

@ AC -- you're right, they're current. Very cold here, but it was sunny yesterday. Snowing again today, and my husband is off to referee football.

Gorgeous shadows cast on the snow! But snow??!!! Yikes - a bit early for that stuff! Have been watching the weather lateley and the west is getting socked with snow - that may stay.

The prairie snows are early, and quite cold feeling to my eyes. The icicles look almost lethal.

Yet, the snow does leave a place for shadowy art, though. Lindy perhaps finishes her business as quickly as possible to escape to the heated house...

@ Ralph -- you're right, Ralph. When she goes out alone, she doesn't waste any time. She enjoys walks with Dick, but she thought I was nuts wandering around the yard with my camera. LOL

I don't envy you your snow--we have about an inch, and it's cold and getting colder. However, I love the shot of the overturned wheelbarrow by the barrel planter, and I doubt it would be so good without the snow!

Just by looking at your photos Kay makes me shiver brrrr. Great shots.

Oh, brrrrr!!!! Lovely shadow shots, but brrrrrrr!!!! I get chilly looking at it and am reluctant to admit that winter is right around the corner.
Give me the warmth of the tropics any day!

I'm wondering if we will some or lots of snow before Christmas this year in New England.

Brrrrrr! :-)

Beautiful pictures and shadows. But Kay -- is it time to go someplace warm? Can you brush off the hot tub and use it? That would be fun in the snow (until you had to get out).

That's a lot of snow already, great shots.

We got our first snow last night with heavy winds. More should be here by tonight. I'm not driving for a few days unless I have to. I never learned all the ins and outs growing up in LA. - Margy

Beautiful shadow shots, so crisp and clear.

I heard on the news that Alberta got snow! I'm not quite ready to shovel it yet. :)

I LOVE your shadows, Kay, especoially the icicles! And I'm jealous of your lovely snow...we had our usual meagre amount last night, now quickly turning into slush. Sigh...life on the west coast. I did like living in Ontario for the wonderful autumn colours and the delightful play of sun across the snow...

Oh it looks so pretty! Although I am glad that it doesn't snow where I am as I don't handle really cold weather so well. I'm happy to be able to enjoy the beauty of the snow via you! The last photo looks like a frozen head! Looks like you've got the hang of your new wizz-bang camera already! Very nice! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and keep warm :)

The weathermen are forecasting snow this week in parts of England. It looks beautiful but I am like Margy and absolutely hate driving in it. I have just had winter tyres fitted for the first time and am hoping this will help. Pictures are beautiful x

Kay L. Davies said...

@ Fran -- the winter tires will certainly help, but there are tricks to driving in snow, and "rules". I have winter tires, but I always forget how to drive in snow from one winter to the next, so I'm terrified all over again.

Good grief! Snow already? You'll be surprised when you get here in a little while.

Please write and let us know what hotel you'll be at and what time your flight leaves for Kauai.

These are beautiful, but it's hard to believe these shots were taken now! OMG! :-)

Congratulations, nice and crisp photos!

Wow! Snow already...well, you are much farther north than us! We got some rain this weekend. Finally! A tiny bit of snow on the highest hilltops too. Fresh snow looks so clean and pure...until Lindy pees all over it!! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such nice comments!

Oh my! Such a different landscape from mine, right now. Beautiful shadow shots!

Shots are really cool… luv shadows, however it's not really that fun with an early snow. It can be so boooooring with long winter days.

Have a happy day & happy SSS…
