My world under a beautiful white blanket

POSTED FOR
a meme with a home-grown theme

Some people have seen a bit of snow falling and are already in a panic. Some people have a lot of snow falling today and have good reason to panic. I'm not either of those.
    Yet.
I know I am not looking forward to driving in it, and am a bit nervous because I have appointments in Medicine Hat this week and next, when Dick won't be available to take me.
Not only do I not like driving in it, but our much beloved Lindy doesn't have the sense to get in out of the snow. If I'm not home, she'll be in the yard, with her one-year-old but-never-been-used fully insulated dog house right there. She will not go into it. Rain, snow, or burning sun, she won't go into it. What a dog she is!
Wait...that's not what this post is about. This is about snow as a spectator sport. Watching it fall is so soothing, so meditative. Looking out a window at a blanket of snow makes us feel warm and comfy inside. And photographing it is fun!

These pictures were taken on Boxing Day last year (December 26, 2009, for those of you who don't know Boxing Day). It was a perfect snowfall, on a perfect day, in my sometimes perfect world.

Kay, what fabulous photos of winter wonderland in Alberta. But you almost caused me cardiac arrest... I thought at first you took these images this week! That's a beautiful world.

I'm glad it's not snowing there quite yet! I was surprised to see this!

It's beautiful and I'm really glad it's at your house and not mine. :)

You had me wondering if these were from this year … already! Blankets of snow are so lovely to look at when you have nowhere to go. I remember Bubbles jumping over the snow like a bunny with his short legs. He seemed to love it and never mind the cold.

Gorgeous captures of the snow, Kay! We rarely get snow here in Seattle, but a couple years ago we had an incredible amount and I have to admit I did enjoy it! We raised our family in Montana and we all loved the snow there! I love it as long as I don't have to drive in it -- been there, done that and would rather just sit back and watch it fall! Have a wonderful week!

@ Penelope -- I don't remember seeing Bubbles in the snow, but I must have, when I was around at Christmas. I can imagine it from your description, though, and the thought brings a wistful smile with it. He was a very special little dog, with many loving admirers.

I love snow, maybe because I only get to experience it's fun side and not the not fun side. I would love to see more snow this year, which means I have to drive up to the mountain to get more snow fun.

Lovely image.

What a lovely sight: all those snow photos! I love snow and it has, like you said, a soothing effect on me.May be because I was raised in a hot tropical country, in Indonesia!
Thanks for your visit! So you recognized me! I have changed a lot though!! Well I am not active in the peace movement anymore, but I still support any good cause when possible.

I got to experience snow only once, only for a day and I enjoyed it then. :)
But I guess everyday snow is not much fun.

I love your photos. We don't get snow where we live, so I love seeing what other people experience.

I have been in the USA during Winter, and agree it is very soothing watching the snow fall.

I thought its already snowing there! But I would not be surprised, though. One fellow blogger from Breckenridge, CO had snow last week, she lives at 10,000 ft elevation.

I love that first photo, it makes me want to have snow again (as soon as I've found my winter coat). But for now it's still orange and yellow out there.

It's so beautiful. I've only seen snow fall once or twice while up at Big Bear, here. But, it is such a lovely site to see. Thanks for coming by my blog (for the Skywatch). Enjoy your snow!

Lovely, lovely snow photos. I love that last sentence, too,"It was a perfect snowfall, on a perfect day, in my sometimes perfect world." So true...
