MY WORLD SMOKES, and I don't like it

When I look at the current weather conditions on theweathernetwork.com, I see the present temperature and the word "smoke". Yes, the smoke from British Columbia forest fires is still so bad it has become a factor in the weather of southeastern Alberta. It gives me an opportunity to use the words "my world" followed by a verb, but it doesn't give me much satisfaction. I think of all the people I know who have breathing problems, some serious, some less so, and I hope the thunderstorms predicted for this afternoon will come and wash the smoke away, even though the thunder frightens our dog. I think of the lungs of animals, wild and domesticated, who are exposed to the smoke without respite, unlike our dog who spends many hours indoors. And I cry.

Oh, the fires are so horrible! And I, too, feel so badly for the animals who don't have the protection that our dogs/cats etc. have. Very moving post and great photos! Hope you have a smoke free week!

Yeah, my heart goes out to those birds and dogs and cats and insects who lose lives and habitat.
can't imagine how scared they must be. Hope the smoke settles soon.

I heard on CBC news that the smoke had crossed the Rockies into Alberta! It's so sad how much of British Columbia is going up in flames.

Hi Kay,
These are truly wonderful shots, but the cause of it is very sad. I didn't know there are big forest fires in Canada too. On Dutch tv we only see Russian and Portugese fires, and floods in Pakistan, Middle europe and China. It's all so sda. :-(
I hope your rain will come soon.

If one didn’t know it was smoke the shots would seem quite mystical. Sorry about the ripple effect of BC fires and hope it all clears up soon!

Amazing pictures indeed. And yes, those forest fires are bad. Luckily it seems as if this year there weren't too much over here.
May you all have a good and safe Tuesday.

Thanks for admiring the Lindimus, Aksharaa. We think she's a good girl. Your two are rather gorgeous as well. There's nothing quite like big yellow dogs!!

WE ALL DESTROY EARTH!!!
I don't know how many forests, annimals etc have died this summer but I assume that they're a lot...Fires that started mostly due to the people. That changes the enviroment, sun is burning earth, earth suffers from the luck of water and the cycle is going on...and on...

You're right, Marina, although most of the forest fires in Canada are started by lightning. But environmental damage and climate change are very real, and the time to do something about them is now.

I think of all the wild things that perish in forest fires and I cry. At least drifting smoke may be unpleasant but is not directly life threatening. One can always wear a filtering mask but where do the animals of the forest run when the fire is upon them and think of the life threatening situation the fire fighters are in as well.
