Brilliant yellow fields of canola (rapeseed) are a familiar sight on the Canadian prairie. |
A mellower yellow can be seen in these wildflowers alongside a country fence. © Photos by Richard Schear, July, 2011 |
Mellowest of all is our golden girl, Lindy, happy to walk on a lovely summer day. |

Put me down as a definite Lindy fan as well Kay, she is adorable. Love the colours for the mellow yellow post.
It is always good to see Lindy.
And I love the rape fields. (shame about that development encroaching on the other field, though!)
Lindy, Good to see you !!! Miss you !! and I'm so agree with your mommy, You are the Sweetest And Mellowest Golden Grrl : )
Happy Mellow Yellow Monday to you

I love the first shot of the stripes of colour on the prairie.
Did you know that you can make your blog wider to accommodate bigger pictures? Go to Dashboard, Design, Template Designer, Adjust Width. Hope this is helpful.
Good luck.
Beautiful landscape... And Lindy has a nice tongue... :)
God bless you!

Beautiful fields and Lindy is adorable!

These photos really illustrate the vastness of your prairie. And of course Lindy is a golden girl, as always :)
Looks like the city is encroaching on the counrtyside. Lindy is so sweet!
We're pretty green around here. Tons of rain, after high heat and humidity for a few days.
Sir John ! was happy to stay home today!
We have quite a few fields of rapeseed here in Ontario too and it's really such a lovely shade of yellow.
Hi Kay. We have lots of rapeseed fields around here and I continually look for photo opportunities but haven't got anywhere near your picture yet. Nice one!
That is an intense yellow, the canola blossoms. I've heard that it is called "canola" because it was thought to sound better than "rapeseed". What ever the name, because of the health benefits, than and olive oil are the only oils I use.
Lindy is looking happy to just be there. Were these taken as you were over west with your birth-family?
Your second photo MAY be yellow sweet clover, although even when I enlarged it, I couldn't tell for sure.
RED AND YELLOW LULLABY
Red is the color of cherries, not cheese;
Yellow the backs of the sweet honeybees;
Red the fair hair of the Derry Town maid;
Yellow the yolk of the brown egg fresh-laid;
Red are the wounds of the sun going down;
Yellow the daisies beloved by the clown;
Rainbows of colors, delighting the eye—
Yellow and scarlet for this lullaby.

The fields look so bright and cheerful decked out with those sunshiney yellow crops -Oh and Miss Lindy is definitely the prettiest shade of golden mellow yellow - She's a star!!
can't remember if I discuss with you before about Canola oil. There once was an email circulating that this oil was no good.
Rapeseed fields in bloom are amazing, aren't they? I'd love to come visit you in Alberta when they are all yellow! Hi to Lindy and your sweetheart Dick too!
I do love a mellow dog.
Very impressive sequence of "shades of yellows" in descending order of intensity, but the last one is certainly most dear.
Beautiful examples of the many shades of a cheerful color.
