With a chinook, the temperature here in Alberta can go up even at night. We used to have an indoor-outdoor thermometer, and could watch the temperature rising at midnight. What a phenomenon for a person who spent most of her life in British Columbia!
We must have had a bit of a chinook early this morning, along with a spot of rain, because a lot of melting has taken place, and we'll have to go out to the back yard to do a spot of work before Dick takes Lindy on her rabbit, deer and sky-watch walk this evening.

I love the gentle sun through the fog.
We got another 6 inches of snow last night. I wish it gone now! LOL Looks pretty bleak out your way too!
I, too, love the sun through the clouds, but I am SO ready for blue skies and sunshine! Happy SWF, Kay! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I love the delicate colours of the sky in the first couple of shots! And the sun through the mist is great! I have only recently noticed the phenomenon.
Brrr... it still looks cold from the photos, though.
That is our sky here in MI too. Gloomy and sometimes it rain with snow and fog.

'Chinook' something new to me.
Hope it gets warm for you soon.
As a former Albertan I hear what you are saying, Kay. The chinooks are such a godsend to the south, but we didn't ever have the pleasure of overnight melts in Edmonton. Cool picture!
Sure does look like Canada! :)) Yes, we have new snow too, although it's drizzling rain today so maybe there will be a tiny bit less snow on the ground tomorrow.
I have always wished to experience a proper chinook!
Kay, you're taught me something new. I hadn't heard of a chinook, let alone known what it was. The temperature can go up even at night? Sign me up!
Hang in there, spring is coming. Our snow is fading away. We had a bit more today, but it's predicted to be 40 F tomorrow, so that should get most of it.
Wow! It sure is flat there!!
Ah, Kay, you are still in the throes of grey days!
THE CLOUD FIDDLER
Hey, diddle, diddle,
The clouds on my fiddle
Are making it hard to play!
Hey, diddle, diddle,
I need a new fiddle
With all the clouds whisked away!

I don't envy you the snow! We've had a bit of a cold snap here in the South, but the daffodils don't seem to mind, and all the Bradford Pear trees are blooming in spite of the cooler temps. Your photos are terrific...the one of the sun trying to burn off the fog is cool.
Spring is on its way! Love that middle picture - it looks like a painting.
Oh I used to love a chinook when I lived up north long ago. I like you photos.
Wonderful shots. That is lot of snow.
Snow, snow, go away. Come again another day (like next winter). Thanks for your nice comment on my "yellows"--I had to pull them out of older posts--no flowers here yet either. Have a nice weekend. Mickie
Lovely sky photos, Kay..one can almost feel the sharp cut of that cold air! The hazy sun shot takes me back to my days in Ontario when we first emigrated and I succumbed to the wonder of snow...:)

Gorgeous shots, won't be long before you feel the warmth of Spring. It is a lot cooler here in NZ.
you must be itching for spring by now, thanks for sharing the pretty views of your white frosted horizon
Stunning !!!
We get more springy every day now and today even the sun has made a nice appearance again. Even if there are also some clouds about! It's still too cold to stay outside for longer than ten minutes though (according to the monsters), the prefer soaking up the sun inside!
I just woke up and found my world is covered in white again..
Better snow than the earthquake, which is now in Japan.
Surely it can't go on for much longer?
I hope you'll have your spot of warming up soon.
That foggy sunrise is beautiful!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Wow Impressive fog shot!
Happy weekend!

It's about time you come over ! Now snow here anymore I even discovered little daisies in our grass ! Youpee !
oh my! what a beauty...thanks for sharing...mine is up as well!
I am continually astounded by the etremes of weather endured by other places around the world. I guess there is a demarcation between your seasons at any rate. I suspect some people would take our winter as a wonderful variety of summer.
Isn't the footage coming out of Japan distressing. However, they do seem to have solid building codes, and well rehearsed disaster mobilisations.
I remember seeing the "chinook arch" on trips to Calgary. Lovely (but cold-looking) photos.
looks very cold, here the spring is started, better temperatures now
Thanks for your kind comment
Have a nice weekend, Bram
Nice series of photos. Neat capture of the foggy sunrise. It is finally warming up here and the snow is all gone. We did have flooding rains here yesterday. The streams and creeks were fast moving and scary looking.
Still looks too cold for me! We have had our thaw. Hope your chinook arrives soon.
cool shots (pun intended) :)
beautiful fog shots.
We've had lots of melting since it started raining here yesterday. Luckily, since so much had already melted today, we had less slush but still some pretty sizeable puddles!
I don't think I could make it through the winters there. I am so spoiled out here on the coast. - Margy
Your sky and landscape almost seem to become one! Spring is not far away - I hope. Thanks for visiting my skies!
Oh Kay --- the scenery is beautiful -- but oh my gosh it's scary cold looking. (Originally from Oregon, which is of course more like your native BC in climate and now in Florida and points between -- don't really know what real cold is obviously.
