CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO
- lyrics by Mack Gordon, music by Harry Warren
- featuring Glenn Miller and his Orchestra
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIQq1j1-AQU&feature=fvst
- video from the movie “Sun Valley Serenade” starring John Payne, Lynn Bari, Milton Berle, Sonja Henie, and Joan Davis
- vocal by Tex Beneke, and The Modernaires
- dancing by the Nicholas Brothers, and Dorothy Dandridge
(You're going to love this video, watch the second part, it's fantastic! I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid, and it was an old movie then, but I loved it.)
Pardon me, boy
Is that the Chattanooga choo choo?
Track twenty-nine
Boy, you can give me a shine
I can afford
To board the Chattanooga choo choo
And just a trifle to spare
You leave the Pennsylvania Station 'bout a quarter to four
Read a magazine and then you're in Baltimore
Dinner in the diner
Nothing could be finer
Than to have your ham and eggs in Carolina

We used to listen to Glenn Miller in my parents' house - this brought back some lovely memories.
I love Glenn Miller, brings back memories of my lovely grandparents xxx
I love this song and anything else by Glenn Miller. There's something special about that big band sound.
I shall have to access the clip later - it's not working for me at the moment, which is probably just as well, as I'd get distracted and keep watching clips all morning!!
That's a lot of eggs to make giant om elate.
Believe it or not, we still HAVE some 33 1/3 vinyls AND a few 45's of this era. Including Glenn Miller and other greats of that time. Loved this.

Ooh, I love old movies!!
That's funny ! I know the song very well, but I never understood the words, I didn't speak English at all at that time !
I love Glenn Miller and I have even heard of this song! Brilliant...
I can even hum that melody as soon as I saw the words.
:) very nice TTS post!
I have one for this time also!

One of my favourite songs to sing along with, Kay! I have Sirius Radio in the car and leave it on Track 4 most of the time...music from the 40s and (sometimes)30s. It's just grand fun.
Of course, I'll be humming this all night long, now...:)
