On our 2008 visit to the Canary Islands, we found the visibly volcanic island of Lanzarote offered the most changeable skies, ranging from white in the first photo due to smoke rising from underground volcanoes, to purest blue in the last photo, which I took through a bus window because I couldn't believe the color! I love the shadows of clouds in the second photo, too.
Posted for Skywatch Friday, the photo meme that's really up there!

Wonderful photos.

anything relating to volcanic activity is SO interesting to me. I, also, have posted a series of Haleakala Crater in Hawaii...can't get enough of those kinds of places!
Wow breathtaking views of this volcano!
Great work with your camera!

A fascinating series of photos from your travels!
what a stunning landscape! fabulous shots of the volcano.
So close, yet I've never been to Lanzarote. I've been to Ibiza once (I will scan the photos soon), because I thought it was the least well-known of all the Spanish islands. Good thing the season was about to close or I would have been in for a massive shock!
I love the photos though. Especially where the volcanic rock shines through. I've been on two vulcanos (Etna and Vesuvius) and it always struck me how eerie it is on them. Not many plants, hardly any animals. Just the wind.
It looks quite an alien landscape but your skies are terrific.
Until recent events, I hadn't realized that volcanoes could contribute to such amazing skies.
Gorgeous blue skies and what a beautiful place! Your photos are marvelous as always, Kay! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Beautiful, Kay. The first photo looks like a painting. Are you still travelling? Have a great weekend. (((hugs))) Jo
A volcano! What serendipity... I just visited another one, and I posted one myself earlier this week. How very different they all are!
Lanzaroote is indeed a nice island and typical with the vulcanic stones
Beautiful Kay! That sky is remarkable -- there is blue and then there is BLUE! That's a memory to keep with you on gray winter days. (Or you could go back ;>)
The volcanic soil is starkly beautiful. Is there anywhere you haven't been? - Margy
@ Powell River Books -- There are lots of places I haven't been, Margy, and some places I have visited but can't find the pictures I took there, Queensland, Australia, for instance!!
Coming up soon -- another volcano, far from the Canary Islands but with definite similarities.
