Tiny little red and blue camera critter

When we visited Costa Rica a few years ago, this little guy was one of the cutest critters we saw, amongst a lot of camera critter candidates in that country. They call him a Blue Jeans Frog.

Oophaga pumilio belongs to the genus Oophaga,
although the name Dendrobates pumilio is still most commonly used.

He's gorgeous and so aptly named.
I'm amazed that he didn't hop off before the pictures could be taken.

Goodness, Kay, he is so tiny, I could see that you might have almost missed him. He looks as small as the Puerto Rican tree frogs. Does he make a ruckus as well. He's just beautiful and I assume he isn't poisonous as you are holding him in your hand.

That has to be the one of the cutest critters I’ve ever seen, Kay! Amazing it doesn’t jump off the hand. Must feel very safe. What a perfect name Blue Jeans. But even cuter than that is the picture of little you in the photo below. Some people never change. :)

frogs are so funny looking with their long legs splayed out. I have a collection of frog ornaments, which suits me better than the handling the real thing.

Oh, Kay, he really is adorable! I don't know why I think frogs are cute. And there sure are some real beauties! I remember playing with them, just the ordinary green kind, when I was a kid... What a super Camera Critter post!

The words cute and frog don't often go in the same sentence, but on this occasion they just have to!
