How Much is That Doggie in the Window?

We wanted that doggie in the window
The one with the waggley tail
We wanted that doggie in the window
(We hoped that it wasn’t a male)
Didn't want a bunny or a kitty
Didn't want a parrot that talks
Didn't want a bowl of little fishies
We can't take a goldfish for a walk
We adopted that doggie in the window
The one who had been in Dog Jail
We adopted that sweet girl in the window
With red curls, and some hairs so pale

Our darling dog Lindy

Note: all the dogs shown have good homes!

Lindy was found by the SPCA of Medicine Hat, Alberta, wandering and "living wild" with another Golden Retriever. The people at the SPCA found both dogs to be friendly, good-natured and loving, so they phoned Medicine Hat SOS Pet Rescue, who took them both. They went to live at an SOS foster home, were vet-checked, washed, had their hair shaved off because it was so matted, and put on diets because, whatever they were eating in the wild, it had made them both quite fat. By the time we met Lindy a couple of months later, she had lost some weight and was so sweet and friendly. She took one look at my husband, and it was love at first sight. We've had her more than a year now and can't imagine what life would be like without her. She still needs to lose some weight (so do we) but we're working on that. Her favorite snacks are raw vegetables, which is a big help!

Lindy is a beautiful dog. You wonder how anyone could let her go or what the circumstances were that she was on her own ( with her doggie companion ), roaming around Alberta. Seems like it was a match made in heaven!

Lindy looks so completely content taking her nap in her bed.
I'm so happy for her that she found your love. Such a beautiful pup.

What a wonderful post Kay, I love that song. Lindy is a beautiful dog, I'm so glad she found a forever home with wonderful people like you and your husband.

Rescued pets are always the best. My housecat Cindi Lou is a rescue and I just did a post about our feral kittens on my other blog.

I think every home should have a pet (preferably cats, but I am being looked at in quite a menacing way by my four monsters at the moment and if I don't write that down, I think they might scratch me. Badly). And it's even better to find one that needs help after having lived somewhere bad.

This melts my heart!!!! You made extra points today, being adoptive parents to such a sweet, sweet furbaby. Wonderful song choice too. I'll be humming it this morning, to be sure.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

So, so cute. I want a puppy but every day I tell myself it's too much and what will we do with it if when we travel??

Glad the poochies are happy and safe!

Congrats on having adopted your dog!!! I'm a huge advocate for pet adoption, I've always adopted my cats and my mom ran a German Shepherd rescue and has a rescue dog herself.

Lovely dogs. I wanted to do this song one day, but I can't find the photo.

I sledom hear about raw vege for dogs. My friend's dog eats the uneaten apple core.

How do you celebrate New Year?

I did not do the eXtreme sports, I was on the ground taking photos.
