Shadow Shot Sunday 2: Yaroslavl, Russia

We will always remember the lovely Russian city of Yaroslavl, near Moscow. Soon after we returned from our Waterways of the Czars cruise, there was a terrible and tragic accident which cast a shadow of sorrow across Russia. See my post about it HERE!
We hope 2012 brings fewer shadows and more sunshine to all hearts.

Camera Critters on a Russian box

I cropped the photo above to show the critters without any distractions, but the reflections in the original below prove it is a glossy lacquered box, made with talent, love, and care by a Russian artist. We saw so many of these fabulous boxes on our Russian holiday in August, we never did decide which one we wanted, so came home with none, much to my regret.

Weekend Reflections: Polytechnic museum

My husband found many interesting reflections at the Polytechnic Museum in Moscow, during our Russian holiday with Viking River Cruises this summer.

Mellow Yellows, Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery

© Photos by Richard Schear, August, 2011

These yellows have been mellowing for centuries.

I stayed on board the Viking Surkov on our August cruise while my husband toured this monastery in Russia. All tours were graded according to the amount of walking and climbing required, but I managed to see plenty of other things. After Dick went alone, he showed me his photos so I'd know what he'd seen.
